The Chapel of San Jose, in spite of his limited proportions, is one of the spaces mas saturated of baroque ornamentation in the city. It must not to surprise us the great deployment of altarpieces of fantastic decoration if we bear in mind that the chapel belonged to the carpenters' union.
It was begun by the Teacher Pedro Romero in 1699 though his construction does not conclude until 1766 approximately, year in which the exterior front walls were finished.
Both front walls also are interesting, presenting the typical baroque overlapping of materials. The image of San Jose that presides the principal one was realized according to Lucas Valdés's design of 1716. The lateral front wall is finished off by a relief of the Weddings of the Virgin and San Jose.
The church saw his heritage reduced with the fire of 1931, where there got lost sculptures and paintings of the 17th century, organs, screens, and other pieces of value.
